About Diamonds - Diamond Colour

The Colour of Diamonds

Diamonds act as prisms and can divide light into a spectrum of colours and reflect this light as colourful flashes referred to as fire. The more colourless a diamond is the more colourful the fire will appear.

There is a grading system used for colours, the closer to colour D the more valuable the diamond. As the grade moves towards Z, colour increases and value decreases.

For the perfectionist a colour grade of D, E or F is recommended, however diamonds graded G, H and I can offer excellent value for money, it is very difficult to see the difference between F and H colour diamonds for example.
